Community Engaged Learning, in collaboration with The Connector and UM System Engagement and Outreach, are thrilled to announce two new faculty awards as part of University of Missouri Extension and Engagement Week!
The Faculty Engagement and Impact Award recognizes innovative leaders who incorporate engagement into their faculty roles, reaching new and diverse audiences. This year’s award goes to Kale Monk, an associate professor of human development and family science, for his extensive work making sure relationship scholarship reaches the public, especially under-resourced populations.
The Faculty Engaged Teaching Award recognizes teaching that incorporates service learning and engaged and experiential learning practices in coursework. The work must show innovative teaching with teaching practices that reach new and diverse audiences, with evidence of success and impact. This year’s award goes to Rosalie Metro, associate teaching professor, in the College of Education and Human Development. Rose prepares MU undergraduates to teach and work with multilingual students and families. To help her own students develop empathy and understanding for those with diverse language abilities, Rose developed a course that provides service learning opportunities and firsthand experience mentoring multilingual students at City of Refuge and Douglass High School in Columbia.
Join us in congratulating these remarkable educators who are making a significant impact both inside and outside the classroom!
