First Gen. Trip to Washington, D.C.

Earlier this semester, first-generation Mizzou students and faculty traveled to Washington, D.C., through a trip sponsored by the Office of Community Engagement & Learning.

The experience gave participants an inside look at federal career pathways while building connections with professionals shaping public service at the national level.During their visit, the group met with leaders from the Partnership for Public Service, a nonpartisan nonprofit dedicated to strengthening government and inspiring a new generation to serve.

Students also stepped inside a U.S. Senate office building, where they received career advice from high-level professionals working in the federal government.

This opportunity allowed first-generation students to see firsthand how their voices and skills can contribute to public service—and to envision new possibilities for their own futures.
